It’s with sadness we announce that our Founder Denzil Jacob Davies passed away on the moring of Wednesday 29th April 2026.
Denzil who recently celebrated his 90th Birthday started DJ Davies Fuels in 1971 with a loan from his mother along with his two sons saving accounts.
Together with his sons Alan and Ian he built the company from a single coal lorry into a multifaceted Fuel Distribution Business with interest in other sectors including Leisure, Anthracite Mineral Processing and Renewable Energy.
Denzil instilled the values that we still operate by to this day and would regularly make sure that the job was still being done right.
In his later years he suffer with dementia but was still a larger than life character that will leave a big hole in the Davies Family.
As a Family we want to thank the team at Glanmarlais Care Home who gave Denzil a wonderful level of care in his later years and always made sure he had his Cups of Tea..
He was certainly a one of the kind and someone who we are immensely proud to have imbedded in our history.
We will forever be grateful for the memories and for what he started.
